The 2019 Camaro | Coming Soon to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Charleston

The 2019 Camaro lineup has undergone a dramatic refresh and will incorporate new, distinct design elements for a powerful road presence. Along with the not-so-subtle exterior updates, the new 2019 Camaro will feature a new Turbo 1LE track package for LT trims, 10-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission on SS models, a rear vision camera mirror, and the new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. We expect it to arrive on our lot this Fall 2018. Check out the ull press release and more photos below!

Full Press Release here:

DETROIT — Chevrolet today introduced a reinvigorated 2019 Camaro lineup with distinctive designs, new available technologies and the first-ever Turbo 1LE.

“Lauded since its introduction for its balance of driving fun, refinement and value, the restyled 2019 Camaro reaches even higher with more of the design, technology and choices that customers want,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet marketing director for Cars and Crossovers. “It’s a performer with few competitors and a pillar of Chevrolet’s energized car lineup.”
Highlights include:
  • Camaro SS now offered with 10L80 10-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission featuring custom launch control and line lock
  • Chevrolet Infotainment 3 systems, including available navigation
  • New available Rear Camera Mirror*
  • New available Forward Collision Alert*
Performance-driven design
The 2019 Camaro’s updated designs are not only striking but also help to improve performance. For instance, the grille details and hood and fascia vents were designed for optimized air flow, either to cool components or help minimize drag or lift. Camaro designers follow the mantra that all elements must not only be beautiful but also enhance performance.
Design highlights include:
  • New front-end styling with distinct differences between LS/LT, RS and SS, including the fascia, grille, LED dual-element headlamps and reshaped hood (ZL1 retains its airflow-optimized front-end styling)
  • SS-specific front fascia with “flowtie” open bowtie grille emblem and aero-enhancing air curtains, specific headlamps with new LED signature and extractor-style hood
  • RS Appearance Package available on LT adds unique polished black grille with Galvano Chrome lower inserts, new LED headlamps with LED signature light bar, specific rear fascia with rear diffuser and 20-inch wheels
  • New rear fascias for all models, with specific diffusers on RS and SS when equipped with Dual Mode Exhaust
  • New LED taillamps with a more sculptured evolution of Chevrolet’s signature dual-element design; red lenses are featured on LS and LT, with RS, SS and ZL1 featuring dark-tinted neutral-density lenses
  • New 20-inch wheel designs on RS and SS
Turbo 1LE
The new Camaro Turbo 1LE joins the V6 1LE, SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE to round out Camaro’s lineup of 1LE track stars. Leveraging the impressive performance and ideal weight distribution enabled by Camaro’s 2.0L turbocharged engine, the Turbo 1LE comes exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and a tailored chassis package derived from the V6 1LE to offer track-capable performance. Highlights include:
  • FE3 suspension with larger diameter front and rear stabilizer bars, specifically tuned dampers, stiffer rear cradle bushings and cross-axis ball joints in the rear tow links that enhance lateral stiffness
  • Split front/rear summer-only tire sizes: P245/40R20 (front) and P275/35R20 (rear)
  • 0L turbo engine with 275 hp (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm)
  • Brembo brake package with low-metallic performance pads
  • Nearly 50/50 weight balance
  • Driver Mode Selector with Sport Mode and new Track Mode; Competition Mode (within Sport and Track Modes) includes performance instrument readouts, launch control, shift lights and more
  • Standard sueded flat-bottom steering wheel and shift knob plus available Recaro seats
Camaro tech: next-generation infotainment, rear camera mirror and more
The 2019 Camaro offers Chevrolet’s next-generation Infotainment 3 with all-new systems that provide a more personalized experience and a more intuitive interface.

They’re the most advanced infotainment systems ever from Chevrolet, with functionality that mimics the latest smartphones and tablets, and cloud connection designed to enhance personalization, available navigation, voice recognition, apps and more. They even allow vehicle software updates to be automatically uploaded over the air.

The standard system features a 7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. An 8-inch diagonal touchscreen running Infotainment 3 is available, including one with navigation.
8-Inch Diagonal Touchscreen New 8" Chevy MyLink Infotainment 3 System Display

Additional new technology features and enhancements include:
  • Standard Rear Camera Mirror on 2SS and ZL1 models offers a wider, less obstructed field of view using a camera display that eliminates potential obstructions such as rear body pillars or seat headrests; a conventional rearview mirror view is also available
  • Improved standard rear-vision camera system* with a new, digital high-definition camera that offers improved view quality
  • Forward Collision Alert joins Camaro’s roster of available active safety features
  • Enhanced Performance Data Recorder system
The 2019 Camaro joins Cruze, Malibu and Spark as part of Chevrolet’s revitalized 2019 lineup of cars.

Car Care: Spring Cleaning for Your Vehicle

Charleston, SC - The temperatures are rising. The birds are singing. Pollen is upon us. In other words, spring has sprung, and you’re probably busier than a bee spring cleaning every room inside your house and tending to your neglected, winter-beaten landscape and patio. In your dedication to your cleaning chores, don’t forget to add “spring clean the car” to your list. Just as your home has weathered the winter months, so has your car, and it, too, needs a lot of attention, inside and out.
Exterior
Road salt, grime and dirt can eat away at your vehicle’s pristine paint job as well as corrode the undercarriage. Flying debris — like rocks — that hit your car while driving can cause tiny nicks in the exterior, which can grow and cause rust to form.  According to AutoTrader.com writer Doug DeMuro, washing your car and ridding it of winter’s footprint is essential.
A thorough washing does more than remove these contaminants to reveal a pretty finish; it protects your car from ongoing, costly and unsightly damage. Bust out the bucket, soap and water for a DIY wash, drive to your local automated car wash or patronize a car wash fundraiser; the method doesn’t really matter as long as your car comes out squeaky clean.
“Once your car is dry, apply wax. A synthetic polymer-based wax will offer you longer-lasting protection,” advises Matthew C. Keegan, writer for NAPAonline.com.
While you are giving your car a spit shine, be sure use some elbow grease on the tires.
“Because standard car wash cleaner will not get your tires sufficiently clean, use a dedicated tire and wheel cleaner,” advises Keegan. “Liberally apply the tire cleaner to the outer surface, then use a tire brush to vigorously scrub back and forth.”
Now is a good time to review the health of your car’s tires and wiper blades, too. Is the tread wearing unevenly? Are your tires inflated to the manufacturer-recommended psi?
DeMuro advises checking the blades for cracks and wear. Since wiper blades have a productive lifespan of approximately six months, Keegan recommends replacing your winter-weathered blades with new ones to take on the demands of spring and summer and again in the fall as part of your cold-weather car care prep.
Interior
You and your passengers probably tracked a lot of dirt and salt over the past few months onto your floor mats and the seats. Keegan says it’s time to fire up the vacuum to rid your interior of crumbs, dust, dirt and salt. He also recommends you apply a “foaming fabric and upholstery cleaner” to your cloth seats and to refer to your vehicle’s manual for instructions on how to clean and revitalize wood and leather materials.
Under the hood
Your car’s engine worked overtime getting you through winter and as a result is suffering from depleted resources. DeMuro recommends checking that your coolant is at its proper level as well as doing a review of your engine’s belts and hoses to make sure nothing is cracked, loose or broken. If you’re unsure what to look for, DeMuro advises taking it in for a service check, and while you’re at the shop, “ask for a quick suspension and alignment check.”
With these tips, your car will be ready to take on warmer temperatures and the demands of spring.

How To Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip

Don't let your vehicle break down during a road trip. Whether you're unable to leave your driveway or you stall out in the middle of a crowded freeway, having your vehicle break down on your drive can be frustrating and stressful. Being proactive and prepared is the the best way to combat this. Inspect these critical components to get your vehicle ready for your next road trip and avoid being sidelined on the road waiting for a tow truck:

Check the oil level:

Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
Your oil helps to regulate the temperature of your engine, preventing it from overheating by lubricating important internal components. Typically, oil changes occur every 5,000-8,000 miles, or whenever your vehicle owner's manual recommends. You can check your oil in just a few simple steps. First, pop the hood of your engine and find the engine's dipstick (it should look like a plastic ring sticking out of your engine). Next, remove the dipstick from the engine and wipe it on a cloth. After this, stick it in your engine again and remove it. The dipstick will have "FULL" and "EMPTY" labels on its side. If the oil level only reaches to the "EMPTY" component, it's time for an oil change!

Check your tire tread:

Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
You're going to need working tires in order to enjoy your road trip! Over time, your tires can wear down on their tread, reducing their ability to effectively grip the road. You can check the tread of your tires using the "penny method" to save yourself some time. Place a penny face down between the grooves of your tires. If you can't see Lincoln's head, your tires have adequate tread and should be able to handle the road ahead. If you can see his head, however, this means your tread has worn down and your tires need to be replaced as soon as possible! Make sure you know how to take care of your tires to ensure they last a long time.

Listen to your brakes:

Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
Does braking take longer than it used to? Does it pull your vehicle to the side as you slow to a stop? Does it make a loud grinding or screeching noise when you brake? If you answered yes to any of these questions, it may be time to have your brakes looked at. Make sure you know when to get your brakes inspected to keep everyone on the road safe, including yourself and your passengers! Repaired or replaced brakes can make all the difference in the world, whether you're going on a road trip or simply commuting to work.

Make sure your coolant is filled:

Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
On long drives, your vehicle's engine can overheat with increased usage. Your engine's coolant serves to reduce and maintain an even temperature with your vehicle's engine. It's one of the most important components of your vehicle, and without it, overheating could permanently damage your vehicle! The easy part, however, is that it is extremely easy to check. Engine coolant is typically replaced every 30,000 miles, or whenever your vehicle owner's manual estimates. Pop the hood of your engine and look for the large plastic container labeled "coolant" or "antifreeze". The container should have markings on the side to indicate whether or not you have enough coolant, and if it's below the required level, you'll need to refill it! Bring in your vehicle to Rick Hendrick Chevy if you need your coolant replaced and we'll take care of it right away.

Check your heating & cooling:

Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
Nobody wants to drive in a vehicle that's too hot or too cold. Malfunctioning heating and cooling units can make everyone in the vehicle irritated, making the drive an all around exhausting experience. Checking your heating and air conditioning is easy: if your vehicle doesn't heat up or cool down fast enough (or at all), it could be an issue with your system. Have your heating and cooling system inspected before you leave. We'll be happy to help you find an affordable solution!

Schedule a checkup:
Get Your Vehicle Ready for Your Next Road Trip
If your vehicle is in need of any service, such as an oil change, tire rotation, or alignment, make sure to schedule a checkup before you head out. Being dedicated to routine auto maintenance is important in protecting the investment of your ride and extending its life. A vehicle that is in top shape will have a better chance of staying reliable and working efficiently.

Save yourself the trouble of breaking down on the road by remaining prepared this year. Make sure these components are in working condition to get your vehicle ready for your next road trip. Avoid the tow truck and ensure a safe ride to your destination by making sure your car performs its best. Brush up on our routine maintenance tips to double-check you've covered all the bases. If you're unsure whether or not your vehicle will be able to handle the road ahead, schedule an appointment with us and we'll inspect your vehicle before you go! Check Out Our Useful Tips for Routine Auto Maintenance Near Charleston, NC!

  • Keep Records - A great way to keep up with routine vehicle maintenance is to keep an auto service log in your car. By keeping track of your vehicle's routine maintenance visits, you will be able to ensure you're on track with scheduled service to keep your car running at it's best.
  • Take It Easy - After purchasing a new car, take it easy during your break-in period. The first 1,000 to 1,500 miles can be crucial for your brand new Chevrolet vehicle. During this time, the care you put in to your vehicle can affect its performance and condition later down the road. Help extend the life of your Chevy by avoiding excessive idling, speeding, and heavy loads during the break-in period.
  • Fuel Choice - When it comes to filling up  your fuel tank, make sure you are using the correct gasoline. Some sports cars with high compression engines recommend higher-octane fuels. However, most vehicles simply require regular gasoline, and were designed to run on regular unleaded fuel, so use regular gasoline to keep your vehicle performing as it should. You can reference your Vehicle Owner's Manual for the specific gasoline type your vehicle requires.
  • Check Fluids - Your vehicle's fluids are important components that allow your car, truck, SUV, or crossover to run smoothly. By checking your fluids regularly, you will be able to help extend the life of your vehicle while allowing it to perform at its best. Using the wrong kind of fluid can be damaging, so contact your Service Center if you have any questions about your vehicle's fluid needs. You can read more about the different kinds of fluids your vehicle requires in the Fluid section of our Routine Maintenance menu below.
  • Keep It Clean - Cleaning your vehicle is important for both the interior and exterior. Regular car washes not only make your vehicle shine like new, but they wash away dirt, salt, and grime. These contaminants can cause damage to your vehicle's undercarriage and can result in rust. It is also important to keep the inside of your vehicle clean from dirt, dust, and even salt, which can cause damage to the interior components as well.
  • Pump It Up - Keep your tires properly inflates do that you don't have to prematurely replace your vehicle's tires! Under inflated tires can wear more quickly, can hurt your fuel efficiency, and can be more susceptible to damages that may cause a flat tire. Over inflated tires can interfere with your vehicle handling and can cause tread to wear unevenly. So, reference your Vehicle Owner's Manual for the correct tire pressure level required by your vehicle. Learn more about tire pressure and maintenance on our Tire page in the Routine Maintenance menu below.
