  • Keep Records - A great way to keep up with routine vehicle maintenance is to keep an auto service log in your car. By keeping track of your vehicle's routine maintenance visits, you will be able to ensure you're on track with scheduled service to keep your car running at it's best.
  • Take It Easy - After purchasing a new car, take it easy during your break-in period. The first 1,000 to 1,500 miles can be crucial for your brand new Chevrolet vehicle. During this time, the care you put in to your vehicle can affect its performance and condition later down the road. Help extend the life of your Chevy by avoiding excessive idling, speeding, and heavy loads during the break-in period.
  • Fuel Choice - When it comes to filling up  your fuel tank, make sure you are using the correct gasoline. Some sports cars with high compression engines recommend higher-octane fuels. However, most vehicles simply require regular gasoline, and were designed to run on regular unleaded fuel, so use regular gasoline to keep your vehicle performing as it should. You can reference your Vehicle Owner's Manual for the specific gasoline type your vehicle requires.
  • Check Fluids - Your vehicle's fluids are important components that allow your car, truck, SUV, or crossover to run smoothly. By checking your fluids regularly, you will be able to help extend the life of your vehicle while allowing it to perform at its best. Using the wrong kind of fluid can be damaging, so contact your Service Center if you have any questions about your vehicle's fluid needs. You can read more about the different kinds of fluids your vehicle requires in the Fluid section of our Routine Maintenance menu below.
  • Keep It Clean - Cleaning your vehicle is important for both the interior and exterior. Regular car washes not only make your vehicle shine like new, but they wash away dirt, salt, and grime. These contaminants can cause damage to your vehicle's undercarriage and can result in rust. It is also important to keep the inside of your vehicle clean from dirt, dust, and even salt, which can cause damage to the interior components as well.
  • Pump It Up - Keep your tires properly inflates do that you don't have to prematurely replace your vehicle's tires! Under inflated tires can wear more quickly, can hurt your fuel efficiency, and can be more susceptible to damages that may cause a flat tire. Over inflated tires can interfere with your vehicle handling and can cause tread to wear unevenly. So, reference your Vehicle Owner's Manual for the correct tire pressure level required by your vehicle. Learn more about tire pressure and maintenance on our Tire page in the Routine Maintenance menu below.
